Tuition Assistance Options

TAX CREDIT DONATIONS

For students in grades kindergarten and up, there are many tax credit organizations in Arizona which award money to students’ tuition accounts in private schools. We work most often with ACSTO (Arizona Christian Schools Tuition Organization). You may apply to as many STOs as you wish! When recruiting donors, we ask that you request use of ACSTO as the tax credit organization.

Visit www.acsto.org to set up an account for your child or to make a donation. When an Arizona taxpayer makes a donation to ACSTO, they receive a dollar-for-dollar credit against their state tax liability. This means that at the end of the year, if they would normally get a refund, they’ll get a bigger refund. If they normally owe taxes, they’ll owe less.

Arizona also offers scholarship opportunities to families considered to be low income, students with disabilities, or students who are currently or were once in Arizona's foster care system. Don’t think you qualify as low income? A family of four with a household income of $89,000 can qualify—learn more about these opportunities from School Choice Arizona.

Empowerment Scholarship Accounts

Some preschool students or K-8 students qualify to get an Empowerment Scholarship from the state of Arizona. Three of the most common eligibility types are if a student is adopted, if the student has a parent actively in the military or if a student has an IEP or 504 Plan from a public school.

To get more information about this scholarship account, visit: https://www.azed.gov/esa/

Students who have signed a contract to get this type of scholarship cannot get STO funds.
