I grew up mostly in Wisconsin with one older sister and two younger brothers. I guess that makes me a “well adjusted middle child”. My father was a pastor and my mother was a homemaker.

I can’t remember a time when I did not want to be a teacher, and to this day, that is still true. I attended Lutheran schools from kindergarten all the way through college. I graduated from Dr. Martin Luther College, (now Martin Luther College), in 1975. Because I have a prosthetic leg and have trouble navigating the ice and snow, God, in His infinite wisdom, saw to it that I would be in a “snowless” area. Thank you Arizona!

During the 43 years that I taught at Grace in Glendale, I taught 1st grade, 2nd grade, and then 1st and 2nd grades combined. I fell in love with teaching, and even more with the children. I love the younger children because they have so much to learn, and they are excited about learning.

Over the years I have taken many graduate level courses, mostly in teaching reading and writing, and I have earned a Reading Endorsement from the state of Arizona. I am also state certified. I believe in continuing education, and have also taken some credit classes in math as well.

I so look forward to helping the preschoolers on their walk with Jesus, and will have many opportunities to share God’s love with the children whether it is on the playground or in the classroom, and I view this as the most important thing I will ever do.
