Mrs. Marquardt

I thought that the best way to introduce myself is to tell you about the things that are most important to me.

First, of course, is my Savior. It is because of all that Jesus has done for me that I am who I am and that I do what I do. It is out of love for my Savior that I live my life in thankfulness and service to Him. I am so blessed to be able to share that love of Jesus with the children and families I work with every day! It truly makes my ‘job’ a ‘joy’!

My family is also very important to me. My husband, Dale, and I have been married for over 30 years. We were excited to move from Wisconsin to Arizona in July of 2013 to join the family at Cross of Glory. We have 4 wonderful, grown children, all in their 20’s. Our oldest, Anne, is an early childhood teacher at Gloria Dei Lutheran School in Belmont, California. Our boys, Andrew and Philip, work in factories and live in Campbellsport, Wisconsin. Our youngest, Emilie, has worked with young children in daycare settings and as a nanny. She and her husband, Ron, blessed us with our first grandchild in July of 2013.

I like to think that I inherited my love of working with young children from my mom. Although a homemaker by profession, she taught 3 year old Sunday School for many, many years. As her helper, I saw how her love for the children showed itself in the lessons and activities that she planned for them. I like to think the Lord has let that love and work continue and develop through me (and now my daughters also!).

I have been blessed with being able to teach for 25 years, the vast majority of which has been at the early childhood level. I love working with young children and seeing how they learn and think. My classroom is an active, fun, learning environment filled with lessons that are hands on and age appropriate. I like to think the children are having so much fun they don’t even know they are learning! I am always looking for new and exciting ways to best teach the children in my care, and because of that I enjoy attending classes, workshops, and seminars to stay current in my field. I have a Bachelor of Science in Education degree, but I have also done post graduate work in Early Childhood.

I have presented workshops on Early Childhood education topics locally, statewide, and nationally for the WELS (Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod). My passion for the education of young children has also led me to be a member of the NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children), to publish a couple of articles for a WELS educational magazine, and to be a freelance writer for The Mailbox, a magazine for teachers.

Wow! For a person who does not like to talk about herself, I have become quite wordy! But when you ask me about my passions, I guess I can go on and on! I hope this has helped you get a picture of who I am and why I do what I do. I am so excited about the ministry at Cross of Glory and the opportunity to work with you and your children! I know that together we can make the beginning of your child’s educational experience the absolute best!
